The State of Oklahoma 2007 Centennial - 100 years
The State of Oklahoma is making preparations for a big celebration in 2007 commemorating 100 years of statehood. In the 2005-06 congressional session, the Oklahoma legislature appropriated a total of $18 million for a variety of Oklahoma Centennial projects in the state. Half of the funds went to the metropolitan areas of Oklahoma City and Tulsa with the remainder going to other cities and towns.

The Waynoka Historical Society was very pleased to be awarded $350,000. The funds were allocated for the transportation museum complex, Waynoka Station, and for the establishment of a regional natural history interpretive center in the Santa Fe Depot.

These funds are in addition to the $300,000 in place for the restoration of the Depot and the paving the main parking area.
